2024/25 Super League – Final Round

They think its all over – it is now! Another exciting, competitive but friendly Super League Season comes to an end.

Mustangs & Meerkats who hadn’t lost a match in the first half of the season and consequently topped the table at Christmas were still at the top after the final game. Mustangs had held a very slender lead at Christmas but were pipped at the post by Meerkats, so it huge congratulations to Claude and his team.

Mercenaries who were third at Christmas only picked up another 5 points and slipped to sixth whilst Marvels who were fourth gained another 8 points but still slipped to seventh place.

Mavericks took 11 points to rise from fifth to fourth and Mammoths with an extra 10 points rose from seventh to fifth while Misfits who doubled their points form 6 to 12 still slipped to the bottom.

The form team of the second half of the season were Marlins, lead by Kapitain Katrina, who couldn’t buy a win before Christmas and were languishing at the bottom, gaining 14 points after the restart to race up the table to third place.

Next Autumn we start all over again.

2023/24 Super League – Round 9

Round 9 of the Super League was played out last week.

On Tuesday Mammoths, still looking for their first win since the winter break, came up against Mavericks. All the games were closely contested but Mammoths managed to pull away towards the end of 3 of the games and got their noses in front by 3-1 [50-39] to finally record that elusive win.

On Wednesday evening, Mercenaries took on Meerkats with both teams seeking their first win since the winter break. And so it remained with the match ending 2-2 [45-32]

The week’s matches ended on Thursday when Marlins took on Mustangs. with match ending in a draw 2-2 [37-43].

So its on to the final round this week where any one of 4 teams could take the runners-up spot.

2023/24 Super League Round 8

Round 8 of the Super League was played out this week.

Tuesday saw Mercenaries take on Mammoths in a match where the final score didn’t reflect what was a fairly close contest. The 4-0 win to Mercenaries made it look like a walkover but the points [52-39] showed it was not all it appeared.

On Wednesday evening Mavericks took on Mustangs with both  teams unbeaten since the restart after the winter break. And so it remained with match ending at 2-2 although with the points at [48-36] to Mustangs it seems as though it should have been a Mustang victory.

The final match of the round on Thursday evening was between Meerkats and Marlins. This was a top v bottom clash which should, on paper, have gone to Marlins. The forecast proved correct with Marlins taking the match 3-1 [48-30].

With only 2 rounds remaining, well done to Marlins who confirmed their position as League winners for 2023/24.

2023/24 Super League Round 7

The Super League continued this week with Round 7.

On Tuesday Mammoths took on Mustangs who were looking to improve on their 1 point lead over Mammoths. It wasn’t to be, however, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw [40-41].

On Wednesday evening there was another double header with  Marlins v Mercenaries and Meerkats v Mavericks. The first of these was a top v bottom clash and the result went to form as Marlins took the match 3-1 although Mercenaries put in a strong showing with the points at [44-42]. In the second game Mavericks were looking to capitalise on the previous evenings draw. Mavericks set themselves up well, coming from behind in both the  opening games to snatch a win. Although they dropped a game in the second pair of games, they ran out as worthy winners by 3-1 although, strangely, they were down on game points [40-41], but the win put them above Mammoths and Mustangs.
